Pennsylvania State University, GridSTAR Center: Smart Grid Training and Application Resource Center

The GridSTAR Center will provide education and training of a workforce needed to design, construct, and operate a reliable, secure, economical, energy efficient, and safe Smart Grid. Operations will begin at University Park and will include two satellite locations: the Philadelphia Navy Yard and the Pittsburgh Green Innovators facility at the former Pittsburgh Public Vocational-Technical High School. The GridSTAR Center is coordinating with a diverse team of utility, energy management, manufacturing, and training partners to provide systems-based continuing education and train-the-trainer programs in advanced power systems design, energy economics, cyber security, distributed energy generation, and building-vehicle-grid systems.

University of Michigan, College of Engineering, Certificate in Current and Emerging Technologies

The 5-day online program explores current and emerging technologies and trends, including hybrid and electric vehicles, connected and automated vehicles, and advanced and smart manufacturing.

The 3-day program is designed for engineers and managers who are involved in the design and development of hybrid and electric vehicles, and/or their key components. 

West Virginia University, National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium

NAFTC is a membership-guided collaboration primarily of two-year community and technical education institutions (CTEs) and four-year institutions of higher education (IHEs) with automotive programs, Education Members, whose mission is to educate new and existing automotive technicians to support the growing industry of alternative fuel and electric vehicles (AFVs/EVs).
