Data-Driven Insights for a Changing Energy and Mobility Landscape
AMP’s Market Intelligence and Policy Research team transforms data on industry and policy trends into actionable insights. Through market and consumer research, forecasting and decision-support tools, and analysis of evolving policy, infrastructure, and technology, AMP helps industry, government and research partners better understand changing markets, evaluate opportunities, and make informed strategic decisions.
EVOLVE: EV Adoption Forecasting Tool
EVOLVE is an interactive forecasting platform developed by AMP in partnership with the Culverhouse College of Business. It forecasts EV adoption, vehicle production, energy and raw-material demand, and workforce training requirements over the next 25 years. Users can explore how changes in model availability, pricing, driving range, charging infrastructure, gasoline prices, and policy may shape adoption trends.
EV Charging Infrastructure Planning Tool
This interactive online decision-support tool helps local governments, employers, businesses, and fleet operators plan EV charging infrastructure. Using site-specific inputs, the tool generates recommendations for the number and type of chargers and associated power requirements for workplace, public-use, and fleet applications, supporting informed infrastructure planning decisions.
Research Papers and Reports
Impact of EV Adoption on State Tax Revenues
This study examines the projected impact of battery electric vehicle adoption on Alabama’s transportation tax revenues from 2022 to 2041 and reviews policy approaches adopted across the United States to address EV-related transportation funding shortfalls. Building on this analysis, the study discusses the feasibility of four alternative funding mechanisms for Alabama: EV registration surcharges, distance-based charges, taxes on public EV charging, and tolling or congestion pricing.
V2G Markets: International Comparison
This study compares vehicle-to-grid (V2G) market readiness across eight international markets using a structured scoring framework that evaluates commercial deployment, policy and regulatory readiness, infrastructure, technical standards and interoperability, and pricing and incentive mechanisms to identify key enablers, barriers, and pathways toward widespread commercial deployment.
Workforce Readiness for Battery Recycling
and Second-life Applications
In collaboration with AMP’s Workforce Development team, this research project examines the state of the EV battery recycling industry, including its policy landscape, workforce needs, and skill gaps, to identify opportunities to advance circular economy practices and support a competitive and resilient U.S. battery recycling ecosystem.
